In 2169, humanity becomes an intergalactic transhuman civilization integrated into immense, sentient, planet-consuming ships: the Armada.

Human minds survive within layered realities governed by artificial intelligence, forgetting the voyage outside while living lifetimes inside. Somewhere in the recursion, The Incorrigible Mr. Zeppo begins asking the questions reality was designed to prevent—and receiving messages in his own voice that he has not sent yet.
